ХЯТАД ДАХЬ МОНГОЛ ҮНДЭСТНИЙ ГАРВАЛ, ШИЛЖИЛТ ХӨДӨЛГӨӨНТЭЙ ХОЛБОГДОХ ЭРХ ЗҮЙ, ГАДААД БОДЛОГЫН ЗАРИМ АСУУДАЛ

Abstract

 President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj’s 2011 plea for “Mongolians to come
together and return to their ethnic homeland” is a historical event for ethnic Mongo-
lians across the globe. The President’s call has been well received among all those with
a Mongol identity. However, the ambiguous mechanism of implementation and unclear
legal environment questions the President’s call. The declaration was made during my
stay in China allowing me to examine and survey how ethnic Mongolians in China re-
ceived and reacted towards this call, which this paper will elaborate on. Furthermore,
the article also attempts to provide the reader a short introduction on the origins of
ethnic Mongolians in China, their current status, cultural and historical factors and its
impact on the bilateral relations of our countries and its possible influence on Mongo-
lia’s national interests.
