Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior which involves verbal or physi-
cal abuse by one person against another in a domestic setting, and make them men-
tally and emotionally distressed. Domestic violence is classified as physical, emotional,
sexual, financial and neglecting1. According to a study of UNICEF, 70% of women face
with a violence in their lifetime. The news of National Anti-Violence center reports
that 1 out of 3 women are become victim of domestic violence in Mongolia.2 Due to
reports of UNICEF the number of female inmates is increasing yearly and violence,
distress, illegal abortion and drug use are the main cause of it.3 Oyunbadam.R (2013 )
et al defended doctor degree under the study called “Mongolian women imprisonment,
theory, methodology and practice.4 Batdolgor.J defended master degree in 2002 by the
topic called “Etiology of women crime”.5 In Mongolia, there is no study about violence
towards female inmates, So we aimed to study about it.
